On 12th of July, Ford launched its legend in India “The Mustang“. Yes, it’s India’s first muscle car. Ford launched the top spec. Variant the with Naturally Aspirated 5.0L Coyote V8 engine with about 7000 RPM redline. The Ford Mustang which comes to India is slightly de-tuned with 401 BHP of power because of inferior fuel quality and because of adjustments made to make it a right-hand drive vehicle which interfered with original vehicle’s exhaust system but that’s not an issue at all.
Before Mustang, the cheapest car to have at least 400 horses were BMW’s M3 which retailed around INR 1.2 crore on road and this one with 400+ horsepower comes at a very competitive price of 65 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi which will get around 75 lakhs on road.
The only drawback of Indian variant is that it only comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Why Ford, Why? A Stick shifter would be much appreciated among enthusiasts. At least MT would have been given as an option but nonetheless, the car is great and is in India with such a nice price tag which some doubt that will affect German-trios sales especially BMW’s 530d, Merc’s E350 and Audi’s S5 which is already a poor seller.
